Why are we proposing this now?
Since 2020 there has been a schism in the 3HO community that grew up around Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. We make no judgement here as to the rights or wrongs of the positions adopted or about the historical facts. The actions of the SSSCorp Board in 2024, particularly in respect of the KRI Board and the Aquarian Trainer Academy, lead us to conclude that under such factional leadership many more will feel disenfranchised and the broader community will remain fractured beyond repaid.
Our alternative is a new kind of association, a network of equals, without a history of hierarchy, where individuals support and encourage each other to grow collectively.

A Route Map for our Kundalini Network
STEP ONE: EXPLORE OUR SHARED SPACE AND DEFINE/REFINE OUR "NEW AQUARIAN MISSION"
This work has been begun by a steering group who envisage it will be taken on by the formal establishment of a steering committee working toward the creation of a global association of individuals.
STEP TWO: ESTABLISH A NEW AQUARIAN ASSOCIATION
We envision a global association of individual trainers, teachers and students of modern kundalini yoga. All participants will associate equally
Agreements of ethical, transparent governance and protocol will be established
Consideration is being given to the most appropriate legal and geographical constitution for such a global undertaking.
STEP THREE: GUIDANCE FOR COLLEAGUES CONSIDERING WORKING OUTSIDE KRI/ATA
A teacher or trainer should register personally with a reputable international yoga register, such as Yoga Alliance (USA) or Yoga Alliance Professionals (UK) (see below).
Current KRI Aquarian Trainer Academy (ATA) Trainers in Training can register as YA or YAP teachers (and associate themselves with any existing school if they desire). YAP teachers document their own career progression - with the option of being supported by mentors of their choice. The culmination of this YAP journey is to become a Senior Yoga Teacher(SYT) which affords the option to additional register as a Trainer Pro.
Current KRI Lead Trainers may also associate themselves with an existing YA or YAP school or consider creating their own school after completing their personal registration (YAP Trainer Pro). A YAP Trainer Pro may use any trainer/teacher on up to 30% of their training program.
We have examined Yoga Alliance YA (US) and Yoga Alliance Professionals YAP (UK) in detail. There are some practical reasons for choosing YAP, but if there are specific reasons why you or your school would be better off choosing YA, then you should do so.
We intend that, when established, our New Aquarian Association will be equally welcoming to all - so choosing YA or YAP or neither now will not exclude you from then becoming an individual member of a New Aquarian association.
We believe that current TnTs are better advised to register personally with YAP as that personal profile and career progression documentation of the trainee/teacher/experienced teacher/senior teacher/trainerpro journey facilitates much more flexible mentoring support than was offered within ATA. Completing your mentorship within YAP would not preclude your subsequently setting up your own YA school if you so wished - or working on any other program in the meantime.
We can offer support and advice on for those considering this step now or in the future. Even those who feel they need to leave KRI because of the changes in management (or any other reason) will need to consider the needs of their students/trainees as they transition from current KRI programs to future independent programs.
i-SKY (Darryl O'Keeffe/Guru Dharam Singh Khalsa) has already established a YAP school (i-SKY) that "NewAquarians" could associate with after registering with YAP as a teacher member. If you are entering YAP as a SYT (Senior Yoga Teacher), you could schedule and teach the i-SKY K1 syllabus (which recognizes the KRI Level 1 content that you are familiar with) and you could, in the future, teach any NewATA syllabus supported by the NewATA manual (currently in preparation as a wiki).
Current Interns in the ATA or teachers who fall short of the YAP SYT requirements (8 years 4000 hours) can still join YAP and continue their mentorship supported by their current mentor or another mentor. i-SKY (Darryl/Guru Dharam) can facilitate your mentorship/teacher journey through YAP. Once you are a SYT you can associate with any YAP school or create your own - with YAP or YA or another organization, as your Senior Yoga Teacher/Trainer status will be internationally recognised.
STEP FOUR: CREATING GLOBAL OR NATIONAL OR SPECIFIC LANGUAGE SCHOOLS - FOR COLLEAGUES CONSIDERING WORKING COLLECTIVELY
All “NewAquarians” collectively could create one global school or in groups could create any number of related regional or specific language school/s.
We have considered Yoga Alliance YA (US) and Yoga Alliance Professionals YAP (UK) in detail and we have the option to create a large collective school easily within YAP (but not within YA).
The primary consideration is be the geographical location and legal constitution of any school/s.
Consideration is also being given to the collective creation of educational resources.
